I seem to have conversations with petrol attendants often. Perhaps it’s my habit of filling up my tank in the late hours of night or early morning hours when attendants tend to be bored.
One night I had a lovely, intelligent and lively conversation with a very well spoken, eloquent lady who must have been in her mid 40’s. She mentioned to me she was getting her GED and would be applying for a bank teller job. She was the only employee, apparently, at the station whose cash tills were always closed out spot on. When I asked when she was going to take her GED test, she said she was insecure in her math skills and needed to feel she could pass without chance of failure. In the same breath, she also told me she couldn’t wait to leave the station as her manager was an awful, miserable human which is why the employee pool was like a revolving door. She was an “old-timer” at eight months.
I got to thinking, “what’s the right way to handle this and is there one?” For those of you who know me, you know I’d jump into that test comfortable or not.
Dan Thompson is just the kind of person we love working with here at EW&L. His hard work is just the beginning, as everyday he brings his characteristic, diverse background that is such an asset to all of us. Dan’s school background is in biology, so you can also see why he fits so well within the culture and interests so many of us have here. Dan took some time out of his busy day in EWL’s compounding lab to answer some questions and give us further information on his diverse background…
Jose (Dani) Zejudo has now been with us here at Essential Wholesale & Labs for quite some time assisting Kevin, our lead compounder. The compounding department is a very interesting facet of our manufacturing side of the business, and we look forward to sharing more about the subject in depth in the future. Our compounding department is where all of our cosmetic bases are made for Essential Wholesale, as well as the custom formulations that come through Essential Labs - these guys are amongst the busiest of all of us!
With all the changes going on here it’s safe to say we are all playing “musical offices” at Essential Wholesale & Labs. Steven Borden, our buyer for a number of years has become our compliance administrator, and is slipping right into his new position which we’ll explore at a later date. To take over Steven’s duties as buyer we brought in Emily Palmer. Emily is an experienced buyer and has worked in a number of different industries. We are so happy to have her on board at Essential Wholesale & Labs!
I am Xizhen Chen Palmer, but you can call me Emily. I work in a fast-paced environment as a purchasing agent at Essential Wholesale & Labs…
Our customer service department is fast paced and integrated well within the rest of our business, therefore we really need customer service reps that not only work well with our products and customers, but also want to learn about the business, in depth about our industry and beyond. Karie LaMountain has started working with us very recently, but she already has that kind of enthusiasm and curiosity- as well as a very diverse background. Karie took time to answer some questions during what has become a very busy week here at Essential Wholesale & Labs.
Jose Albarran is a long time employee and one of the hardest workers in our warehouse. He is not only an amazing worker, but also integral to training new temp workers that help us out during busy parts of the year. He is our lead order puller, guiding the process of getting your order filled and in the hands of our shipping department. It was evident to me from the first order I brought to Jose how much he cares that each customer gets exactly what they ordered, and in top shape and form.
Aaron Hume started working with us quite recently, and his addition to the shipping and receiving department came right at that crucial time before the very busy holiday season of 2011. Most of you, our customers, don’t often come in contact with our warehouse workers so it’s always great too find out and share more about them. Aaron assists in getting all your packages out the door and in your hands.
